About the role
Ensures quality of care and adequate protection of patients and staff in the use of imaging equipment and other radiation-producing sources. Assists in maintaining proper calibration of equipment.
Responsibilities
- Ensures careful and quality use of radiation-producing sources and imaging equipment
- Protects patients and staff from radiation
- Calibrates all radiation therapy equipment
- Participates in the research and development of new therapy modalities
- Responsible for the implementation of the Quality Assurance program and ensures compliance with regulations of all governing agencies
- Conducts equipment performance reviews as needed
- Implements quality control procedures for imaging devices
- Recommends radiation safety procedures to areas using radiation
- Performs related duties as required
Qualifications
- Master's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience
- Current license and certification to practice as a Medical Physicist in NYS, required
- License and certification must be in speciality area appropriate to area of assignment
- Plus specialized certifications as needed
- 1-3 years of relevant experience, required
