Responsibilities
- Assists in all aspects of clinical radiation physics, including quality assurance, radiation safety, treatment planning verification, and implementation of new modalities.
- Performs necessary physics support for therapy quality assurance, including 3D and IMRT/VMAT treatment planning, HDR, LDR, IGRT, SRS/SBRT, IORT, TBI, TSEI, DIBH, Gating, and Gamma Knife.
- Aids in quality assurance monitoring, loading, and transportation of radioactive material.
- Maintains skills to assess and care for patients of all ages and disease sites.
- Supports and assists in other medical physics activities related to patient care and staff education.
- Participates in clinical trials and ongoing research projects.
- May supervise medical physics residents, medical physics students, radiation oncology residents, and dosimetry students.
Requirements
- A master's degree or PhD in medical physics with appropriate clinical training.
- ABR (American Board of Radiology) or equivalent certification is required, and participation in MOC (maintenance of certification) if applicable.
