About the role
Leidos’ Defense Open Sensors Division is seeking Radar Signal Processing Engineers to join a diverse team creating unique solutions for complex sensor and radar-oriented problems. This position offers new or experienced engineers continued opportunities to learn and grow in technical knowledge of sensor and radar systems. The department encourages and frequently incorporates new ideas from all employees into sensor projects spanning the entire DoD ecosystem. Opportunities for advancement into senior technical roles, as well as project or personnel management, are available.

Responsibilities
- Research and development of advanced digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms
- High-fidelity radar and RF modeling, simulation, and analysis
- Related tool feature development and maintenance
- Integration and field testing of RF sensors and systems
- CONUS/OCONUS deployment of advanced sensor systems
- A variety of tasks related to signal processing, measurement tracker processing, system performance metrics, sensor simulation, or utility tools as part of larger efforts or customer goals
In this role, organizational skills will be paramount to manage multiple tasks while ensuring compatibility with the group’s larger codebases.
Requirements
- BS degree from an ABET-accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field with 2-4 years of applicable experience or MS degree from an ABET-accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field
- Excellent math skills and/or strong fundamentals in one or more of the following:
- Signals and systems
- Digital signal processing
- Tracking algorithms
- Electromagnetics
- Ability to apply the above skills to radar modeling & simulation, antenna array theory, digital signal processing, tracking, algorithm development, and field testing of sensor systems
- Demonstrated experience understanding, evaluating, and implementing published scientific literature (e.g., IEEE)
- Experience with Matlab, Python, or similar scientific-based programming tools to implement math or science-based phenomenology related to linear systems, digital signal processing, tracking, or electromagnetics
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a solid technical background
- Must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to Huntsville, North Alabama (this is not a remote or work-from-home position)
- Must be a U.S. citizen, able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in high-performance computing languages such as C++ (including CUDA)
- Experience in development or operations of radar HWILs (Hardware-in-the-Loop)
- Experience with ADCs, DACs, clock distribution, or embedded systems
- Highly organized, able to work independently in a fast-paced and highly productive environment
- Experience working on radar or communications-related programs or projects
- Ability to create design documentation, requirements specifications, and other technical documentation
- Experience utilizing AI tools to augment technical output (e.g., improving/automating documentation or code generation)
- Experience in Radar Resource Management algorithms and approaches to low-latency radar scheduling
- MS degree from an ABET-accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field
- Relevant publications in listed technology areas
Pay
Pay Range: $69,550.00 – $125,725.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
