About the role
Leidos’ Defense Open Sensors Division is seeking a Radar Signal Processing Engineer to join a diverse team creating unique solutions for complex sensor and radar oriented problems. This position offers opportunities for new or experienced engineers to continue learning and growing in technical knowledge of sensor and radar systems.
Responsibilities
- Research and development of advanced digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms
- High-fidelity radar and RF modeling, simulation, and analysis
- Related tool feature development and maintenance
- Integration and field testing of RF sensors and systems
- CONUS/OCONUS deployment of advanced sensor systems
- A variety of tasks related to signal processing, measurement tracker processing, system performance metrics, sensor simulation, or utility tools as part of larger efforts or customer goals
- Managing multiple tasks while ensuring work remains compatible with the group’s larger codebases
Requirements
- BS degree from an ABET accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering or related technical field with 2-4 applicable years of experience
- OR MS degree from an ABET accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering or related technical field
- Excellent math skills and/or good fundamentals in signals and systems, digital signal processing, tracking algorithms, electromagnetics
- Demonstrated experience in understanding, evaluating, and implementing published scientific literature from sources such as IEEE
- Experience working with Matlab, Python, or similar scientific-based programming tools to implement math or science-based phenomenology related to linear systems, digital signal processing, tracking, or electromagnetics
- Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong technical background
- Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville – North Alabama, AL, area
- US citizen, Top Secret clearance required
Qualifications
- Experience in high performance computing languages such as C++ including CUDA
- Experience in development or operations of radar HWILs
- Experience with ADCs, DACs, clock distribution, or embedded systems
- Highly organized, able to work independently at times
- Ability to create design documentation, requirements specifications, and other technical documentation
- Experience utilizing AI tools to augment technical output (i.e., to improve/automate documentation or code generation)
- Experience in Radar Resource Management algorithms and approaches to low-latency radar scheduling
- MS degree from an ABET accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering or related technical field
- Relevant publications in listed technology areas
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Knowledge of radar systems and signal processing techniques
- Experience with MATLAB, Python, or similar programming languages
- Understanding of RF and antenna theory
- Experience with high-performance computing and parallel processing

Pay
$69,550.00 - $125,725.00
