About the role

Leidos Defense Systems is seeking talented Radar Engineers to join a diverse team creating unique solutions for complex sensor and radar-oriented problems. With offices across the United States engaging in defense, space, cyber, and commercial fields, we provide responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific, and IT solutions. Our team solves the world’s toughest security challenges for customers with “can’t fail” missions.

Responsibilities

  • Support advanced technology radar programs, including development of radar signal processors, radar tracking algorithms, and advanced sensors in EW environments.
  • Simulate radar systems and conduct field-testing of RF sensors and systems.
  • Deploy advanced sensor systems.
  • Work closely with other skilled engineers to deep-dive into existing algorithms to improve performance and processing latency.
  • Investigate newer algorithms from literature to determine potential improvements for various radar programs.
  • Lead a team of engineers in solving difficult radar algorithm problems, peer review new algorithms, and oversee tasking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an ABET-accredited school (or strong demonstration of the skills listed below).
  • 2–4 years of prior relevant experience or a Master’s with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience in radar algorithm development and/or radar analysis.
  • Willingness to lead a team of engineers in solving difficult radar algorithm problems.
  • Strong fundamentals in:
    • Digital signal processing
    • Tracker algorithms
    • MATLAB
    • Radar Simulation and Modeling
  • Must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville – North Alabama, AL area.
  • Must be a US Citizen and possess (as well as maintain) a Final Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with radar simulation and a strong background in statistics and probability.
  • Additional skills in the following are desired:
    • Electromagnetics
    • Modern C++ development
    • Familiarity with Linux

Pay

Pay Range: $69,550.00 - $125,725.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
