About the role

Radar Engineers at Tomorrow.io are integral to the development and validation of ground and flight radar systems. This role involves supporting the transition of radar systems from near-field to far-field validation, contributing to payload integration in a transportable test platform, implementing and testing radar signal processing chains, and participating in acceptance testing, environmental testing, and bring-up.

Responsibilities

  • Support transition of radar systems from near-field to far-field validation
  • Contribute to payload integration in a transportable test platform
  • Implement and test radar signal processing chains (Beamforming, Calibration workflows, Pulse compression)
  • Support final design, procurement, and test of radar subsystems
  • Participate in acceptance testing, environmental testing, and bring-up
  • Support flight radar Software Defined Radio (SDR) development and validation
  • Assist in test plans and verification of manufactured SDR units
  • Support standup of payload-level integration and test infrastructure
  • Assist with full payload assembly, checkout, and regression testing
  • Maintain integration procedures, test reports, and configuration documentation

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or similar
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with RF or digital hardware integration (Ka-band or mmWave RF systems is preferred)
  • Familiarity with radar systems or phased-array architectures (Ideally with Beamforming implementation, phased-array calibration, SDR platforms, and FPGA-based receivers/exciters)
  • Familiar with lab test equipment (VNA, spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope)
  • Comfort working with embedded systems, Linux environments, and scripting
  • Comfort learning complex systems incrementally and developing intuition through hands-on data analysis and testing
  • Ability to work effectively within a mixed team of engineers and scientists, with respect for different technical perspectives
  • Willingness to move fluidly between theory, simulation, and real system behavior
  • Clear technical communication skills, including explaining assumptions, limitations, and trade-offs

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in radar engineering, with a focus on hardware and software integration. Experience with Ka-band or mmWave RF systems is preferred, as is familiarity with radar systems or phased-array architectures. A solid understanding of lab test equipment and comfort with embedded systems and Linux environments are also essential.

Skills

  • RF or digital hardware integration
  • Radar systems or phased-array architectures
  • Lab test equipment (VNA, spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope)
  • Embedded systems and Linux environments
  • Scripting
  • Complex systems integration and testing
  • Technical communication skills

Benefits

Comprehensive health benefits, unlimited paid time off, and other benefits are provided. Relocation assistance may be offered/available for certain roles.

Pay

The anticipated salary range for this role is $105k - $125k subject to local market and candidates skills and experience.
