About the role

Join our dynamic team at Caliber Sales Engineering as a Radar Engineer specializing in TPS-43/70/72/75/78, FPS-117, TPS-77, TPS-59 and related systems. This role involves deep expertise in the design, operation, maintenance, and upgrade paths of these radar systems, which serve diverse defense and civil applications.

Responsibilities

  • System Familiarity: Maintain detailed knowledge of technical specifications, capabilities, and limitations of radar and SATCOM variants.
  • Operational Characteristics: Apply expertise in radar principles, including antenna design, signal processing, target detection, tracking algorithms, and data interpretation.
  • Site Surveys: Conduct site surveys at radar installation locations, including documentation, photography, and customer out-brief. Identify local suppliers based on survey data.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve radar system issues, including hardware, software, and interface problems.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Implement schedules and procedures to ensure radar reliability and longevity, including corrosion effects on metal surfaces and restoration.
  • Field Support: Provide technical assistance and guidance to field operators and maintenance teams, with knowledge of atmospheric effects on RF propagation and heat exchanger systems.
  • Upgrades and Enhancements:
    • Assess radar performance gaps and propose upgrade paths to enhance range, resolution, and signal processing.
    • Coordinate integration of new hardware and software upgrades into existing systems.
    • Conduct rigorous testing and validation of upgrades to meet operational requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure radar systems comply with industry standards (e.g., FCC regulations, ITAR) and safety protocols.
    • Maintain accurate documentation of modifications, upgrades, and compliance records.
  • Training and Knowledge Transfer:
    • Develop training programs and materials for radar operators on system operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and project managers, to achieve project goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in radar systems are advantageous.
  • Ten (10) years of related technical experience. Previous military experience in a related field is a plus.
  • Proficiency in radar theory, antenna design, signal processing, and radar performance analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret radar data, identify trends, and recommend system improvements.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities to diagnose complex radar issues and implement solutions.
  • Clear and concise communication skills for diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders. Bilingual ability is a plus.
  • Experience managing radar upgrade projects from conception through implementation and validation.
  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • Physical ability to stand, climb stairs, and carry up to 30 lbs.
  • Valid passport or ability to obtain one; willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Schedule

This is a full-time position typically working during standard business hours. Domestic and international travel may be required.
