About the role

The Rad Tech II position plays a crucial role in the healthcare team, performing diagnostic and other clinical exams under supervision. This role also involves coaching and mentoring less experienced technologists.

Responsibilities

• Operate radiographic equipment to perform diagnostic and other clinical exams as directed.
• Determine technical and positioning factors and position patients for exams.
• Select proper radiographic factors to minimize radiation exposure.
• Explain procedures to patients and address any questions or concerns.
• Collect specimens for drug screens and perform blood alcohol tests and CLIA-waived tests.
• Perform patient intake activities, including checking and recording vital signs.
• Assist in the development of others through guidance and teaching.
• Promote professional practice and excellent customer service.
• Manage resources such as supplies and equipment.
• Plan work and complete job responsibilities efficiently and productively.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, and policies.

Requirements

• Required: Technical Degree or Diploma in Radiology.
• Required: 1-3 years of Rad Tech experience.
• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Required: Breath Alcohol Technician certification from Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare.
• Required: DOT Urine Specimen Collector certification from Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare.
• Required: Registered Radiologic Technologist (RRT) certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
• Required: X-Ray Operator certification from the Tennessee Board of X-Ray Operators.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of procedures used to train and orient Rad Techs.
• Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
• Demonstrated clinical competencies in radiography imaging equipment and procedures.
