Racker (Production Associate) - 1st Shift

About the role
Based in Syracuse, NY, the Racker will perform essential job functions associated with heat treatment under the direction of the Production Control to meet customer specifications, including assisting other employees as needed. This position is safety-sensitive due to the nature of our business and a heavy industrial market. Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screen and basic physical.
Responsibilities
- Prepares work for processing including cleaning, painting, wiring, fixturing, etc.
- Loads and unloads furnaces, bins, fixtures, baskets, etc.
- Stacks/loads parts in customer bins or containers.
- Immediately brings any unusual problem, irregularity, or concern to the Heat Treater, Foreman/Lead Person, or management.
- Practices and promotes safety and good housekeeping.
- Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
- Responsible for the care and treatment of customer inventory, performing duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent loss or damage.
- Must report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of basic math.
- Must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holder.
- Ability to work full-time, 40+ hours per week, including overtime or any shift, including weekends.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operation certification.
- Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
Physical & Mental Demands
- Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods in an industrial environment.
- Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
- Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity.
- Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
- Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Pay
The hourly pay range for this position is $19 – $20 per hour. Starting pay is determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is classified as non-exempt and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with state and federal law. This role is not eligible for additional compensation, including shift differential.
Schedule
This position requires working full-time, 40+ hours per week. The hours for this position are 7am–3pm.
