About the role
The Rack Deployment Manager leads rack deployment readiness and execution for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's mission-critical data center environments. This role is accountable for converting capacity plans and site readiness inputs into safe, predictable rack deployment outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Own rack deployment planning and execution across assigned sites, campuses, regions, or strategic capacity programs, with clear accountability for safety, schedule, quality, and operational handoff readiness.
- Translate capacity, network, supply chain, and site readiness inputs into executable deployment schedules, milestone plans, dependency trackers, and field execution priorities.
- Cook up rack placement, logistics, cabling readiness, power and cooling availability, network readiness, energization sequencing, validation, and turnover activities across internal teams and deployment partners.
- Drive readiness gates covering MEP status, commissioning prerequisites, rack elevations, materials availability, labor planning, site access, security requirements, change controls, procedures, and operational acceptance criteria.
- Identify schedule, quality, safety, supply, vendor, or site-condition risks early; escalate clearly; and drive cross-functional recovery actions to protect deployment commitments.
- Support rack energization and turn-up activities by ensuring required approvals, MOPs/SOPs, communications, safeguards, rollback plans, and operational stakeholders are in place before execution.
- Develop and reinforce repeatable deployment playbooks, checklists, reporting mechanisms, and lessons-learned loops that improve deployment consistency and reduce rework across sites.
- Track and report deployment KPIs, including schedule adherence, blocker aging, deployment throughput, quality findings, rework, readiness gaps, energization progress, and turnover completeness.
- Partner with vendors, contractors, and field teams to ensure execution meets OCI standards for safety, workmanship, documentation, security, and issue closure.
- Ensure clean handoff to Data Center Operations with validated assets, complete documentation, known-risk closure, open-item ownership, escalation paths, and no unresolved latent operational risk.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in data center infrastructure deployment, rack integration, technical program execution, cloud capacity delivery, critical facilities operations, network deployment, construction turnover, or similarly complex infrastructure environments.
- Strong experience coordinating cross-functional deployment work in mission-critical, high-availability, large-scale, or hyperscale technical environments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex schedules, deployment dependencies, operational risks, vendor performance, field execution milestones, and stakeholder escalations.
- Experience supporting rack deployment, rack energization, server/network infrastructure readiness, structured cabling, supply/logistics coordination, asset readiness, or data center capacity delivery.
- Strong understanding of data center operations, including power, cooling, space, network, change control, safety, security, access control, documentation, and operational turnover expectations.
- Proven ability to operate independently, influence senior stakeholders, and drive accountability across teams without direct reporting authority.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Operations, Information Technology, or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong execution discipline with the ability to drive complex deployment work from planning through energization, validation, and operational handoff.
- Practical understanding of rack-level deployment dependencies, including space, power, cooling, network, cabling, logistics, commissioning status, site access, and change windows.
- Ability to build clear operating mechanisms, dashboards, trackers, and action plans that improve deployment visibility and accountability.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-ready status updates, risk summaries, escalation narratives, and decision framing.
- High attention to detail in readiness documentation, deployment sequencing, issue management, turnover packages, and quality controls.
- Strong stakeholder management across operations, engineering, construction, commissioning, network, supply chain, logistics, security, and vendor teams.
- Sound operational judgment with a bias for structured execution, zero rework, continuous improvement, and risk-managed speed.
Paid Time Off
- Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position.
- Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
- Regular attendance, schedule flexibility, and the ability to support deployment activities during planned maintenance windows, energization events, turn-up milestones, or critical escalations may be required.
- To perform these duties, you must be able to move between office, campus, warehouse, construction, and active data center environments; walk sites; climb stairs; observe field work; and safely engage in deployment readiness activities, with or without reasonable accommodation.
