R&D Technician II

About the Role

We are looking for a R&D Technician II who will perform analysis on sample material, conduct various testing activities, and communicate results effectively within GAF Energy, a company transforming the rooftop solar industry to generate “Energy from Every Roof.” As part of Standard Industries, GAF Energy partners with North America’s largest roofing and waterproofing manufacturer, GAF, to offer homeowners elegant, roof-integrated solar options and provides commercial tax equity funding for large-scale rooftop solar projects.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate roofing and building materials for quality performance characteristics
• Report meaningful and unbiased conclusions based on evaluations
• Assist in root cause investigations
• Assist in raw material qualifications
• Perform chemical and physical property testing and experiments
• Maintain documentation accurately and completely
• Maintain laboratory equipment in an operable and calibrated condition
• Assure all activities are performed safely
• Contribute to Job Safety Analysis and Standard Operating Procedure development

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree (AA)
• 2+ years of relevant experience
• 2+ years of experience as a lab technician in a manufacturing environment
• Experience with material science, statistics, and quality functions
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suites

Qualifications (Preferred)

• Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in science or engineering

Pay

Base Salary Range: $48,006–$66,009. Individual compensation offers will be determined based on geographic location, relevant candidate experience, skills, education, and qualifications.
