About the role

We are seeking a dedicated R&D Test Technician to assist our R&D engineers and scientists in the development and analysis of medical devices, materials, processes, or equipment. This role involves working in a tech lab environment focusing on electrical and mechanical aspects, without exposure to hazardous chemicals.

Responsibilities

  • Execute a wide range of tests including tensile testing, balloon fatigue and burst testing, and catheter functional testing.
  • Perform development and design verification testing on catheter assemblies following written test methods.
  • Collaborate with engineers in the development of test setups and fixture implementation.
  • Conduct mechanical, pull tensile testing, flex testing, torque testing, and catheter insertion/retraction testing following engineering instructions and test methods.
  • Perform semi-automated testing with meticulous setup requirements.
  • Maintain high attention to detail and the ability to follow protocols and capture data accurately.
  • Utilize PC knowledge/experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and file sharing/saving abilities.
  • Conduct repetitive testing for short/long periods as required.
  • Build quality into all aspects of work by maintaining compliance with all quality requirements.

Requirements

  • AA Degree or equivalent work experience in a related discipline and 1+ years of related experience.
  • Experience with tensile testing, microscopy, or electrical measurement equipment.
  • Ability to operate complex equipment and learn quickly.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in reading and following technical instructions.
  • Good problem-solving and organizational skills.

Skills

  • Previous medical device experience is preferred.

Work Environment

The position is based in Carlsbad, CA, within a tech lab environment focusing on electrical and mechanical aspects. The role involves working with R&D catheter engineers and technicians, ensuring a collaborative atmosphere. The dress code is professional attire appropriate for a laboratory setting.

This is a fully onsite, contract position based in Carlsbad, CA.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $37.00/hr.
