R&D Technician

About the role

This position resides in the ifm prover USA Malvern, PA manufacturing facility, which designs and manufactures temperature and flow sensor products. The Mechanical Technician role is key to ifm electronic’s greater manufacturing success in the United States, supporting the development of brand new sensors from early concept to full production.

Responsibilities

• Support Mechanical Development Team with new product development projects
• Assist with rapid prototyping and coordinate prototype manufacturing to progress designs through sample stages and testing
• Lead all mechanical verification tests and investigate root causes of failures
• Provide Computer-Aided Design (CAD) support, creating part models, drawings, and documentation packages for new electro-mechanical sensor products
• Maintain functionality of mechanical testing machines and associated documentation
• Coordinate with in-house manufacturing team to bring products to full production

Qualifications

• 2+ years hands-on technical experience
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail, providing consistency to repeated testing and documentation
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and in a team, balancing multiple priority topics daily in a fast-paced environment
• Self-driven and willing to acquire new skills to grow in the position and team
• Experience with common MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Preferred: SolidWorks proficiency, technical drawing and GD&T knowledge, rapid prototyping and/or machine-shop/CNC experience, mechanical testing experience
