R&D Scientist II

Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepares evaluation reports and analyzes discrepancies to execute solutions by partnering with technical experts.
• Develops procedures to implement proper quality controls.
• Performs routine to moderately complex tests/experiments to analyze and correct problems.
• Pairs with internal and external stakeholders to assist in resolving routine to moderately complex design, development, production, and acceptance issues.
• Collaborates with senior technical experts to develop and document improvements/innovations.
• Evaluates opportunities for defect prevention based on standard or accepted solutions.

Requirements

• 2 or more years of relevant experience in analytical, scientific, or related technical activities
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Physics or equivalent
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
• Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business
• United States Citizenship
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
• Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)

Qualifications

• PhD in Material Science, Physics, or Chemistry
• Expertise in classical molecular dynamics
• Preferred expertise in non-equilibrium molecular dynamics (NEMD)
• Experience modeling structure property relationships in organics, ceramics, and glasses
• Experience in Linux and Windows environments
• Demonstrated teaching experience as a graduate student
• Contributions to and delivering scientific presentations
• Both experimental and computational experience
