R&D Laboratory Technician

Responsibilities
- Experiment Execution: Assist engineers in planning, setting up, and running controlled experiments, prototype trials, and product scale-ups.
- Prototype Preparation: Prepare, assemble, measure, and inspect for analytical testing.
- Data Collection & Analysis: Record experimental observations, calculate formulas, and compile test results accurately within electronic databases for documentation and use in progress reporting.
- Equipment Management: Operate, calibrate, clean, and perform routine preventative maintenance on laboratory instruments and machinery.
- Inventory Control: Monitor laboratory supply levels, track consumable resources, and coordinate with the procurement team to reorder chemicals, supplies or tools.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) regulations, and proper hazardous waste disposal procedures.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Coordinate with quality control, manufacturing, and marketing teams to facilitate smooth transitions from product concepts to commercial manufacturing.
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical theory, Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or a closely related scientific field.
- One or more years of hands-on laboratory experience, ideally in an industrial R&D, product testing, or quality control environment.
- Proficiency in standard analytical techniques (e.g., material testing, high voltage testing techniques, or physical testing methods) and experience tracking standard test protocols like ASTM or ISO.
- Proven digital skills, including demonstrable proficiency in MS Office (Excel) or Google Sheets, alongside familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or scientific data software, and reporting.
- Excellent organizational habits, strong written communication skills for report drafting, and a natural ability to tackle technical anomalies independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, handle critical equipment, and safely lift up to 30 lbs when moving test equipment, experiments or raw materials.
Qualifications
- Basic Qualifications: Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with AC/DC Hipot testing, thermal cycle testing, BIL lightning testing, current injection testing, or thermocouples. Prior work experience in a research and development testing role.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $54,835 - $94,003 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
