Composite Technician

About the role

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is seeking a Composite Technician to join our Production department based in Kinston, NC. Our team manufactures crucial aircraft components.

Responsibilities

• Lays out, assembles, pre-fits, and bonds a variety of metal, composite or laminate fabrications, assemblies, parts, skins or equipment.
• Follows engineering and manufacturing specifications and orders to determine parts to be bonded and the temperature and pressure required.
• Cuts parts or materials to size.
• Operates autoclave, hydraulic presses and ovens to complete the bonding cycle.
• Sands, burrs and smoothes over areas.
• Applies sealing resins to cut or exposed edges.
• Performs routine minor machine maintenance as part of their daily work duties.
• Routinely move product within the immediate manufacturing work area, including across isle, using shop assigned equipment as required and complete transactions necessary to move product to the next operation.
• Support the continuous flow of product within the manufacturing process by training and assisting employees at all classification levels.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 2 years’ minimum experience in aviation production or equivalent.
• Previous experience with lay-ups, assembling, pre-fitting, and bonding a variety of metal, composite or laminate fabrications, assemblies, parts, skins or equipment.
• Must be able and willing to work any shift to include working overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or WorkKeys Assessment completion.
• The ability to successfully complete the following training provided by Airbus after recruitment: Health & Safety General aircraft familiarization Quality Training.

Skills

• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
• Strong knowledge of aviation Quality Management Systems, Safety Management Systems, and FOD programs, preferably in manufacturing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for interaction with internal teams through all levels of the organization and functions.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
• High degree of flexibility and initiative.
