About the role
The Position:
Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is seeking an experienced technician to join the Test/GA (General Affairs) Team of the Structures Engineering Design Department.
Responsibilities
- Set up and conduct performance-related tests on components concerning interior, exterior, chassis, frame, and BIW (body-in-white) systems. Then, analyze test results against specifications and prepare technical reports for engineering design teams to review.
- Execute teardown and benchmark activities concerning competitor vehicles and subsystems
- Build, assemble, and modify experimental components
- Create custom test fixtures to facilitate testing efforts
- Diagnose mechanical or electrical failures in prototypes and recommend countermeasures
- Calibrate and maintain specialized laboratory equipment and shop machinery to ensure safe and accurate operation
Requirements
- Associate's degree in automotive or industrial technology
- ASE certification
- 3+ years of professional experience operating and testing the following systems: interior, exterior, chassis, frame, and BIW
- An ability to read blueprints and schematics
- Strong vehicle diagnostic skills
- An ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Adept in Microsoft programs, such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
- An ability to prepare reports/spreadsheets (when needed) to support project-related work
