R&D Lab Technical Specialist II

This position provides the opportunity to support the development of new materials, processes, and products for orthodontics. The role involves interfacing with employees at all levels across various departments, including R&D, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Technical Services, Regulatory Affairs, and Procurement.
Responsibilities
- Support engineering test and analysis activities related to new product development, sustaining engineering, RA/QA, and general operations
- Manage test requests and provide regular status updates to stakeholders
- Prepare samples for testing
- Perform tests using a variety of laboratory measurement equipment
- Document results in accordance with good documentation practices (GDP)
- Analyze data and deliver accurate, timely summaries of experimental results
- Provide technical input on new test requirements and methods; offer feedback to the broader team
- Recommend improvements to test methods, fixtures, and overall lab practices
- Maintain and organize laboratory equipment, cabinets, and workspaces
- Ensure proper housekeeping and uphold a safe laboratory environment
- Maintain safety and cleanliness of R&D lab areas
- Order and manage inventory of chemicals, materials, and laboratory supplies
- Collect, document, analyze, and manage experimental data in compliance with requirements
- Attend technical and core team meetings and provide updates as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or related disciplines
- Minimum 2 years’ lab testing experience in medical device R&D or related industries
- Dental lab experience is required
- Demonstrable experience using an Instron tester and Blue Hill software programming
- Strong MS Office Suite skills, particularly Excel and Word
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience in an R&D environment
- Orthodontic lab experience is a plus
- A proven record of working successfully with personnel at all levels of the organization
- Ability to work under pressure or within tight schedules
- Ability to problem-solve
- Ability to recognize and prioritize tasks
- Experience using Minitab for statistical analysis
- Ownership of test data
- Excellent written, verbal, computer, and interpersonal skills
- Team player, willing to go the extra mile
- Knowledge of GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) and GDP (Good Documentation Practices)
Pay
$27.70 - $33.90 per hour
