The R&D Hardware Section Manager will lead the Digital and Photonic Center of Excellence (DP-CoE) in the research and development of real-time oscilloscopes hardware, guiding the segment through a rapidly changing market landscape with new competitors.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Lead a diverse team of front-line managers overseeing the development of real-time oscilloscopes and other hardware across all business segments (High Volume, Mid-Range, and High-Performance instrumentation).
    • Work closely with partner organizations such as Keysight Labs, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to ensure on-time delivery of products.
    • Develop close partnerships with internal planning teams and marketing to create hardware roadmaps that meet future customer needs.
    • Deliver on a roadmap for probes and accessories to bolster growing business opportunities.
  • Team Management
    • Manage the core team of front-line managers in DP-CoE responsible for hardware development of real-time oscilloscopes.
    • Set clear goals based on organizational and business objectives.
    • Provide regular feedback and ensure professional growth across the lab.
    • Develop a culture of collaboration and excellence within the team.
    • Hire and develop new R&D hardware project managers and R&D engineers.
  • Technical Excellence
    • Stay abreast of industry trends, research breakthroughs, and technological advancements impacting the business.
    • Drive new systems to augment efficiency while maintaining first-in-class R&D operations.
    • Ensure delivery of high-quality products on time.
  • Cross-Domain Management
    • Work closely with the software organization to ensure schedule and feature alignment across the product portfolio.
    • Develop partnerships with leaders in partner product teams to optimize R&D resource efficiency.
    • Provide an environment to develop key talent for the future of the business across all R&D domains in DP-CoE and Keysight.

Requirements

  • Education
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering; advanced degrees preferred.
  • Experience
    • Experience leading a team of front-line managers in hardware development.
    • Deep understanding of the oscilloscope market, customers, and competitors.
    • Exceptional track record of developing and delivering products that consistently meet or exceed goals.
    • Experience leading, planning, organizing, and tracking project teams and tasks.
    • History of product deliveries achieving quality, cost, inventory, budget, and schedule goals.
    • Experience working in matrixed organizations requiring high collaboration across business groups.
    • Proven ability to make decisions quickly and efficiently, even amid ambiguity.
    • Ownership of topline growth, market share, and profitability.
    • Strong partnership with Keysight Labs, hardware and software managers, and IST Solution Development Managers.
    • Experience in hiring and growing talent across EE, ME, and FPGA disciplines.
  • Technical Expertise
    • 5 years of direct management experience leading R&D teams.
    • Experience with hardware design and design processes, including Keysight’s Product Life Cycle.
    • Technical prowess to assess and guide architectural and design decisions.
    • Ability to harness internal and external development capabilities to drive products and solutions.
    • Experience staying at the forefront of industry research and standards.
    • Experience with photonic and optics technologies.
  • Customer Focus
    • An outside-in mindset, proactively anticipating market trends, technology waves, and customer needs.
    • Ability to engage directly with Keysight customers to translate needs into product requirements.
    • Proficiency in using Keysight products, understanding nuances between hardware, firmware, and software implementations.
    • Expertise in customer uses of oscilloscopes, including digital communication technologies, optical technologies, and data center transport.
    • Experience with DP-CoE’s other technologies (AWGs, BERTs).

This position is on-site in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Relocation is available for this position. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Pay

The level of role will be based on applicable experience, education, and skills. Most offers will be between the minimum and the midpoint of the Salary Range for Colorado: MIN $178,110.00, MAX $296,850.00. For other locations, pay ranges will vary by region.
