Your Role

Job Summary: R&D Chemist will be a quality focused laboratory professional with experience developing and implementing testing procedures across all stages of the quality assurance process. Skilled in optimizing laboratory standards, improving testing methodologies, and utilizing a wide range of chemical testing equipment and processes. Adept at interpreting test results, providing operational guidance, and serving as a key resource for troubleshooting and testing excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Safely perform physical testing of chemicals/ingredients
  • Evaluate the physical and chemical properties of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the lab as well as other routine laboratory tasks.
  • Provide quality testing, sampling, analysis, formulation, characterization to ensure quality/standards are being met.
  • Document quality activities to prove a record of quality compliance efforts.
  • Conducts quality control testing and recertification of products as necessary.
  • Produces document(s) to communicate lab results.
  • Participates in joint sales calls and conference calls with sales representatives at customers.
  • Participates in principal/vendor visits and conference calls to present lab findings and recommendations.
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Job Requirements/Essential Functions

  • Wear PPE as required

  • Use computer programs up to 50% of the day
  • Use the telephone up to 30% of the day
  • Stand up to 100% of the day
  • Walk up to 80% of the day
  • Lift/push/pull up to 50lbs
  • Work in an environment with exposure to chemicals, some that may be hazardous

Equipment Use and Frequency

  • Rarely (0-15%): Perform physical testing of chemicals/ingredients
  • Occasionally (16-45%): Evaluate the physical and chemical properties of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Frequently (46-100%): Conducts quality control testing and recertification of products as necessary.

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field or commensurate of education and experience.
  • Two years of laboratory experience preferred.
