About the role

Chemours is seeking an R&D Associate Chemist to join the Thermal & Specialty Solutions team at the Chemours™ Discovery Hub in Newark, DE. This highly visible role supports R&D projects with a focus on Process Development, process scale-up, and commercial-scale manufacturing support.

Responsibilities

  • Perform organic synthesis laboratory tests and procedures according to standard protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Carry out daily lab operations including setting up reactions, purification, and characterization (GC-MS, NMR, IR, MS, etc.).
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments and devices.
  • Execute designed experiments under the supervision of senior chemists.
  • Record, analyze, and report data using software and databases.
  • Follow quality control and quality assurance procedures and regulations.
  • Communicate and collaborate with lab staff, researchers, and supervisors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in chemistry or a similar technical field, or a high school diploma with 5+ years of relevant chemistry laboratory experience.
  • At least five years of experience working in a chemistry laboratory setting.
  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques, equipment, and safe working practices.
  • Experience working with HF or willingness to learn how to handle it.
  • Ability to carry out experiments independently and as part of a team with attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to accurately record observations and results to protect intellectual property.
  • Proficiency in Windows operating systems and willingness to learn new software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple complex, time-sensitive projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • GC-MS operation and maintenance experience.
  • Experience with compression and pipe fittings.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Automation and instrumentation experience.

Pay

Pay range: $73,947.00 – $115,542.00 (Chemours Level 23). Annual bonus target: 6%. The pay range and incentives are based on the primary job location and consider factors such as responsibilities, experience, knowledge, skills, and internal equity. Incentive pay depends on business results and individual performance.
