About the role

Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the Quotation Engineer provides technical and administrative support in processing customer quotation requests for standard and special cutting tool products. This role develops, communicates, and tracks quotations while serving as the primary connection between customers, sales, production, and engineering throughout the quotation process. By following established engineering standards, quotation guidelines, and manufacturing processes, the Quotation Engineer builds the technical knowledge and problem-solving skills necessary for advancement within Guhring's engineering career path.

Responsibilities

• Develop and process price quotations for standard and special cutting tool products by following established quotation procedures, engineering standards, and turnaround expectations.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for customers by phone, email, and web inquiries, providing pricing, delivery, product information, and technical support for standard and special tooling requests.
• Coordinate with sales, engineering, production, and manufacturing teams to determine product feasibility, manufacturing methods, costs, and delivery requirements necessary to prepare accurate quotations.
• Work within SAP and related engineering systems to create, process, maintain, and track quotations while adapting to evolving software platforms and business processes.
• Assist in maintaining engineering systems through additions and corrections to routings, job data, and product information to support changing manufacturing methods and engineering requirements.
• Maintain accurate quotation records, customer documentation, correspondence, and order confirmations while ensuring timely communication throughout the quotation process.
• Develop an understanding of cutting tool design, manufacturing processes, engineering standards, materials, and production methods through on-the-job training and cross-functional collaboration.
• Support the Engineering team with repeat orders, engineering documentation, and other technical assignments as knowledge and experience develop.
• Recommend process improvements that increase quotation accuracy, consistency, and turnaround time.
• Maintain confidentiality of customer information, pricing, engineering designs, and proprietary manufacturing processes.

Requirements

• Technical and administrative support in processing customer quotation requests for standard and special cutting tool products.
• Proficiency in SAP and related engineering systems.
• Understanding of cutting tool design, manufacturing processes, engineering standards, materials, and production methods.
• Strong coordination and communication skills to liaise between customers, sales, production, and engineering teams.
