About the role:Our research team is looking for a junior Quantitative Researcher to work on our systematic US equity strategy buildout. This is a highly selective role with access to abundant research resources and the opportunity to directly drive our investment decisions.Responsibilities:Discover alphas in US equity markets by applying rigorous statistical analysis to market, fundamental and alternative datasets — performing hypothesis testing, feature design, and backtesting to improve on alpha ideasBe involved in all aspects of the research process: data analysis, alpha discovery, Machine Learning modelling, portfolio construction, risk management, and portfolio attribution analysisWork with other quant team members to develop research infrastructure, including tools for data processing and frameworks for research idea generationEvaluate new datasets for alpha potentialFollow, digest, and build upon the latest academic researchRequired qualifications & skills:0–2 years of experience in US equities; medium-frequency alpha research experience is a plus; l/s portfolio construction experience is a plusPh.D. or M.S. in mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science, operations research, finance, economics, or another quantitative disciplineProgramming in Python or C++; experience with SQLHands-on and self-sufficient — comfortable building your own tooling and infrastructure in a small, fast-moving teamDemonstrated ability to learn and apply new methodologiesAble to work both independently and collaboratively within a teamStrong desire to deliver high-quality results in a timely fashionDetail-oriented, and willing to take ownership of your work Perks & Culture:At Aleto, we foster a culture of exceptionalism, positivity, and diversity of thought.
