Key Responsibilities
- Applying statistical models and developing simulations to address ecological questions related to animal movement, habitat, population dynamics, and risk assessment.
- Identifying data gaps and proposing improvements to data collection methodologies.
- Participating in fieldwork, data collection, and management protocols.
- Formulating analytical solutions to marine management questions using existing data streams.
- Preparing technical reports, peer-reviewed publications, and presenting findings to stakeholders.
- Engaging in planning and coordination meetings with research teams.
Qualifications And Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Science or related field with five years of relevant experience.
- Experience in statistical analysis, managing large datasets, and visualizing model outputs such as species distribution maps.
- Knowledge of marine legislation (e.g., Marine Mammal Protection Act, Endangered Species Act).
- Experience in survey design, data collection, and providing technical advice on marine species research.
- Proficiency in R/Python, GIS, and cloud-based data management tools.
- Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences and publish research findings.
Preferred qualifications
- A master’s degree or higher in Marine Science or related fields.
- Experience with oceanographic data.
- Willingness to travel for fieldwork and conferences.
