About the role
TRAM, Inc. is a Japanese-owned automotive parts supplier serving Japanese transplants (Toyota, Nissan, Subaru, etc.) and domestic OEMs (Ford and GM). Based in Plymouth, MI, TRAM is a subsidiary of Tokai-Rika Co. LTD in Nagoya, Japan. Founded in 1986, TRAM employs over 2,500 people across five locations and manufactures automotive components including switch-related products, security and safety-related products.
Responsibilities
- Take a lead role in the daily function of the Warranty Lab and coordinate with Quality Engineers.
- Support processes for warranty returns, customer concerns, and EDER systems.
- Perform electrical, mechanical, and functional tests of products using specified test protocols.
- Conduct visual evaluations and dimensional measurements of products using fixed or preset measuring instruments.
- Analyze warranty return parts to support corrective actions and recurrence prevention.
- Write reports and provide detailed evidence to team members.
- Communicate analysis results to obtain robust short-term, recurrence prevention, and long-term corrective actions aimed at supporting customer KPIs, warranty prevention, and cost reduction (EDER).
- Provide technical support to internal departments to maintain and improve product quality.
- Ensure adherence to Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
- Calibrate gauging and equipment according to established procedures.
- Record test and measurement data using statistical process control procedures and report data in appropriate formats.
- Support regular meetings to establish action plans for EDER activities and reduce warranty claims/costs.
- Ensure timely flow of warranty returns through the warranty department (EDER).
- Coordinate EDER activities, including daily part reception, shipping, and database management.
- Monitor and react to KPIs, providing feedback to management on continuous improvement activities.
- Support or lead continuous improvement projects and undertake special projects as required.
- Establish and achieve goals supporting the group’s short- and long-term objectives.
- Maintain lab and workspace 5S standards to achieve "1 second find / 1 second reach."
- Support warranty engineers and internal groups related to part quality.
- Communicate efficiently and liaise with warranty engineers, departments, customers, and suppliers.
- Demonstrate commitment to customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- Technical School or Associate Degree.
- 3+ years of relevant experience.
