Quality Technician II, Inspector (2nd shift)

About the role

Performs detailed dimensional inspection for customer over-inspection. Performs Source Inspection on behalf of customers as defined in customer delegation procedures. Completes defective material reports, data processing move transactions, and first article reports as required. Communicates with department supervision as necessary. May be held to established quality standards and have control to make minor adjustments to the process after tasks are assigned.

Responsibilities

• Inspect parts visually and dimensionally for conformance to manufacturing drawings, quality control specifications, and customer requirements.
• Utilize all precision measuring equipment and techniques as applicable, including micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators.
• Request N.D.T. evaluations as necessary.
• Use statistical sampling plans; complete/verify various inspection reports including S.P.C. charts, first article reports, and defective material and test reports.
• Complete data processing move transactions as required.
• Communicate any daily activities that may need to be passed forward to the next shift.
• Read blueprints and use different gages, such as micrometers, calipers, comparators, thread gages, plug gages, height gages, specifications, and protrusion blocks.
• Perform other tasks of equal or lesser skill as required, including duties as part of cross-training or employee development plan.

Requirements

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and two years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to complete routine documentation and speak clearly and effectively with managers, supervisors, and coworkers.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Knowledge of Syteline Manufacturing software.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently required to stand and sit.
• Frequently required to walk and talk or hear.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

• Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may occasionally be loud enough to require hearing protection.

Schedule

5 days, 8 hours a day, with overtime to meet the demand of the job and weekends as needed.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $23 to $29 an hour depending on level of experience.
