Quality Technician I

Responsibilities

  • Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or standards to inspect or test product throughout the manufacturing processes to determine if it is fit for conformance or customer requirements.
  • Records test data, applying statistical process control procedures where applicable.
  • Documents reports to validate or identify details for deviations from existing standards, where and when required.
  • Supports calibration of tools and gauges as required.
  • Operates various types of measurement equipment required to evaluate product conformance.
  • Coordinates activities related to Material Review Board (MRB) or supports as directed.
  • Supports containment and/or sorting activities as requested for external or internal sorts as directed by the quality department leadership.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with quality inspection tools and equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts to the degree necessary.
  • Ability to determine product status based on test and inspection results.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints as applicable to the manufacturing of metals.

Qualifications

A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required. One year of experience in manufacturing or engineering is also required.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

The role requires some physical demand, including occasionally lifting light to medium-weight material and frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 25 lbs/1-11 kgs) material. The ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling, and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours) is necessary. The role also requires standing and/or walking constantly over a full work shift on concrete (8-12 hours) and may involve exposure to noise levels for which hearing protection must be worn over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
