Quality Technician

About the role

Under the supervision of the Manager, Quality & Continuous Improvement, the QA Technician checks and inspects in-coming materials, in-process and finished products, ensuring conformance to company quality standards and customer specifications. This role will have a specific focus on Powder Paint processes and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection on raw materials, outsourced parts, in-process materials, fabricated parts and finished goods, ensuring conformance to specifications.
• Interpret detailed blueprints, work orders, engineering specifications, and routing sheets to determine production standards and tolerance limits.
• Test finished products for paint quality and thickness, welding quality, dimensions, fit, and appearance.
• Conduct and document individual tool calibration and verification per company standards.
• Compile, interpret, and document statistical data from testing processes to either confirm compliance with established quality standards or identify deviations.
• Process non-conformance reports when incorrect material is received.
• Ensure finished product is packaged, marked, tagged and loaded correctly to minimize possible damage during transportation.
• Analyze inspection results and assist in addressing and resolving production problems causing deviations from existing standards.

Requirements

• Technical diploma or Associate degree in quality engineering, quality assurance, quality control or equivalent experience and education.
• Three to five years related experience in manufacturing which includes working in quality and/or responsibility for inspection of raw materials, parts, in-process materials and finished goods.
• Knowledge of welding and/or powder coat processes strongly preferred.
• Ability to operate various tools and equipment to include micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, paint film gauge, squares, measuring tape, profile gauge, and various other precision measuring devices.
• Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) is a plus.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time efficiently.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems (e.g., Epicor).
• Strong attention to detail.
• Solid interpersonal relationship and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds when turning parts over.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision and ability to adjust focus.
• Twisting, turning, grasping, reaching, pulling, and extended periods of standing.

Schedule

10am – 8pm, Monday - Thursday
