About the role

Voyager Energetics is seeking a Quality Technician to join our dynamic team. This role is responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of our products through inspection and testing, documentation, defect identification, and supporting quality control processes.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and test materials, components, or finished products against specifications using tools like calipers, gauges, or specialized testing equipment.
  • Document inspection results, test data, and non-conformance reports accurately, maintaining logs that support traceability and regulatory or customer requirements.
  • Identify and report defects, flagging products or processes that fail to meet quality standards, tagging or segregating defective items, and communicating issues to supervisors or production teams.
  • Support quality control processes by assisting with calibration of equipment, following standard operating procedures (SOPs), participating in audits, and implementing corrective/preventive actions to reduce recurring defects.
  • Work with engineering to write and execute change controls for quality processes, and serve as an internal auditor.
  • Support evaluation of energetics and process equipment through laboratory testing and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
  • Assist with manual and automated production tasks including accurate measurement of chemicals, operation of production machinery, material handling, processing of energetic material, maintaining production records, and compliance with established procedures.
  • Attend all required meetings and provide clear, professional verbal and email communications.
  • Work safely by accurately and strictly following established standard operating procedures and following safety rules.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly working environment.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and operations team to develop and test solid rocket motor and energetic manufacturing systems.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 - 7 years of experience in quality assurance within engineering, manufacturing, or construction environments.
  • Experience working within an ISO 9001-certified organization.
  • Measurement and inspection proficiency – skilled use of precision instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMMs) and the ability to accurately read blueprints/engineering drawings to verify parts meet dimensional and tolerance specifications.
  • Understanding of quality standards and statistical methods – familiarity with quality systems like ISO 9001, Six Sigma, or industry-specific standards (e.g., AS9100, IATF 16949), plus basic statistical process control (SPC) to interpret data, spot trends, and catch defects before they become bigger problems.
  • Attention to detail with strong documentation habits – the ability to consistently notice small deviations or defects, combined with clear, accurate record-keeping for traceability, audits, and root-cause investigations.
