Quality Technician

Job Purpose

Performs functions associated with quality control and quality assurance operations, including working with engineers in set-up and calibration tasks and carrying out rework and quality assurance procedures related to production or operations.

Nature Of Duties/Responsibilities

  • Creates First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) and other dimensional inspection reports for manufactured printed circuit boards after interpreting customer drawings, specifications, and other customer requirements.
  • Communicates and collaborates with various other departments to gather objective evidence needed to create and submit FAIR reports.
  • Works with minimal day-to-day supervision upon completion of company Quality and Safety training.
  • Navigates internal company software and database systems to gather information.
  • Accurately completes First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) and other dimensional inspection reports.
  • Interprets drawings, specifications, customer requirements.
  • Works effectively with and communicates with various departments, including: Front End Engineering, Production Control, Manufacturing, QC Inspection, and Delegated Source Inspection.
  • Summarizes and communicates potential areas of non-conformances to Quality and/or Manufacturing management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Reads and interprets complex engineering drawings, assembly drawings, blueprints, Bills of Material (BOM), and specifications.
  • Applies foundational knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing(GD&T) to interpret drawing callouts.
  • Performs receiving inspection on incoming purchased components and raw materials.
  • Documents all non-conformances found during inspection, issues non-conforming material reports (NCMRs), and segregates defective parts.
  • Applies final QC approval (stamps, labels, stickers) only to verified, conforming products in strict adherence to company policy.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed inspection logs and reports in the quality system.
  • Interfaces with Production and Engineering teams to clearly communicate quality issues.

Education And Experience

  • Associate Level or Certificate in related field.
  • Experience and familiarity with PCBAs.
  • 4-6 years related experience in Quality including, 1-3 years previous FAI experience; 1-3 years print reading experience.
  • Strong understanding of ISO9001/AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of inspection methods including sampling plans and testing and inspection equipment.
  • Good understanding of product specifications.
  • Thorough attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently majority of the workday.
  • Ability to work well as a team or with other departments when needed.
  • Moderate general computer skills using MS Office products: Word, Excel, PDF.

Salary Range(annual)

$60,320 - $68,640 ($29 - $33 / hour)
