The Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring manufactured products meet requirements using tools and guidelines. They inspect and verify product quality, ensuring it meets standards before reaching the consumer.

Responsibilities

  • Performs standardized quality control tests/inspection on products, materials, and components.
  • Ensures compliance with internal/external quality standards.
  • Records statistical data and compares to existing standards.
  • Clearly communicates and documents non-conformances.
  • Resolves routine questions and problems and refers more complex issues to higher levels.
  • Understands and participates in continuous improvement activities.
  • Takes on new activities and special assignments when given.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of manufacturing experience or related experience.
  • Previous inspection training and/or experience preferred.
  • Experience with Lean and continuous improvement projects preferred.

Qualifications

  • Applies basic inspection skills related to inspection procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment.
  • Familiar with using appropriate inspection tooling (i.e., micrometers, calipers, thread gages) to accurately measure part features.
  • Engineering drawing (blueprint) reading skills.
  • Ability to perform basic math with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • PC skills for documenting data.

  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks.
  • Ability to evaluate and prioritize requests.
  • Ability to concentrate on tasks, make decisions, and work calmly and effectively in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to be flexible with time and adjust to a changing work environment.

Physical Demands

  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for an 8-hour shift.

Environmental Exposures

  • Routinely and regularly works near moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to hot conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to non-toxic fumes.
  • Moderate noise level.
  • Exposed to oil, grease, dust, metal particles, and sharp-edged materials.

Safety Requirements

  • Must be able to wear safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed shoes, and occasionally hearing protection.

Pay

The starting pay range for California is $19.00 to $21.00 per hour, plus eligibility for overtime. Individual pay and positioning within the range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. While individual pay could fall anywhere in the range based on these factors, it is not common to start at the high end or top of the range.
