About the Role
The Quality Technician drives the quality processes of Micro Matic USA, including Incoming Receiving Inspection, Return Material Authorization (RMA), Defective Material Report (DMR), and Initial Quality Acceptance Form (IQAF). This role supports the production floor with FAI’s, Material Review Board (MRB) maintenance and reporting, creating rework orders, maintaining the calibration system, and other inspections as required.
Responsibilities
- Perform Incoming Inspection on items received from vendors, transitioning toward vendor-audited Quality Reports, and document findings.
- Inspect/test parts as required, provide CAPA’s, determine disposition, and coordinate with appropriate departments for RMA’s and DMR’s.
- Create DMR’s for nonconforming conditions (receiving inspection and production floor) and communicate with suppliers and internal teams for resolution.
- Follow up to ensure DMR closure, including supplier and internal corrective actions.
- Create production rework orders for supplier products, customer returns, or production-identified issues.
- Maintain quarantine locations by managing product movement in/out of quarantine within the AX system and compile reports.
- Perform thorough inspections on initial vendor production, document, and file using the IQAF (Initial Quality Acceptance Form).
- Support production by maintaining QC tools (inventory, calibration, use) and collaborating with engineering to produce training videos.
- Resolve product-related quality issues on the production floor, including in-process and final inspections.
- Assist with evaluation and disposition of products in QA hold areas to ensure timely resolution and cost maintenance.
- Support the returns coordinator with evaluation/testing of customer-returned products.
- Perform gage calibrations, maintain calibrated gage inventory/locations using Gagetrak software, and manage gage issuance/receipt.
- Help establish and maintain Golden Samples for production.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, quality, or a related field.
- Solid knowledge of quality processes and measurement system analysis.
- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
- Understanding of ISO 9000, 5S, and TQM (preferred).
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles (Six Sigma).
- Ability to communicate quality principles effectively to employees.
- Ability to travel between Micro Matic locations.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
Skills
- Proficiency in basic mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and ability to compute rates, ratios, margins, and percentages.
- Strong reasoning ability to apply common sense, follow instructions, and use logic to solve problems (deductive and inductive reasoning).
- Effective communication in one-on-one and small group settings, with professionalism in all verbal/written interactions.
Preferred Qualifications
- American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Technician (CQT) certification.
