Quality Technician

Position Summary

Kelvion, one of the leading global manufacturers of heat exchangers, is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Technician to join our Quality Team at our Paducah, Kentucky location. The primary responsibility of the Quality Technician is to perform incoming inspections to prevent non-conforming parts or materials from being used in the manufacturing process. Additionally, this individual will assist in maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS).

Responsibilities & Duties

• Perform local deliveries to customers and pick-ups from local vendors
• Initiate and maintain tool program
• Audit internal processes for conformance
• Perform inspections on manufactured products, works in process, and finishing goods to ensure procedures are being followed and the products meet the specified standards
• Initiate “Quality Alerts” when non-conformances are identified
• Be able to perform continuous improvement activities, such as Lean Manufacturing, 6S Kaizen events, workplace organization, etc.
• Ensure inspection records and reports are kept in a timely manner
• Build and retain local customer relationships for quality needs

• Good attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving skills
• Basic understanding of statistical concepts
• Fast learner with the ability to work with minimal supervision and cooperate in a team environment
• Read prints and product drawings
• Perform inspections using common measuring equipment and devices, such as gauges, micrometers, and other measuring equipment
• Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
• Excellent math skills and ability to process numbers quickly to produce charts

Education and Experience (Required Levels)

• Minimum of a High School Diploma
• Possess a working knowledge of the Association of American Railroads (AAR) M-1003 standards
• Three to five (3-5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment

• Frequent standing, walking, reaching, handling, feeling, and using hands to finger, handle, or feel
• Occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, and hearing
• Regularly hand lifting and/or moving objects up to 50 pounds
• Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
