About the role

The Quality Technician provides support to the Quality Department by conducting tests to validate product performance, performing audits to ensure quality processes are maintained, and acting as the voice of the customer.

Responsibilities

  • Review product specifications to understand customer requirements.
  • Evaluate the physical and visual properties of the finished product to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Report deviations from standards to the Production Supervisor and operator, documenting observations and corrective actions on retain samples and electronically in the audit database.
  • Place nonconforming products on hold as required.
  • Perform all duties following standard procedures, safety requirements, and calibration procedures.
  • Ensure accurate and thorough recording of all data and information related to quality.
  • Maintain day-to-day working conditions in the lab, including cleanliness, orderliness, safety, routine maintenance, and organization of samples, records, and files.
  • Maintain the sample retain system, including proper labeling, storing, and discarding of retains.
  • Assist the Quality team with additional assignments or projects during slow production periods to maintain productivity and support overall department needs.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and corrective and preventative actions.
  • Train production team members on quality standards.
  • Maintain professional and respectful working relationships with co-workers.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Proficient in the use of a PC and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Desire for achieving excellence in customer satisfaction, process and product quality, and reliability.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and positive quality mentality at all times.
  • Self-directed and personally motivated.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment while focusing on meeting or exceeding customer expectations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of experience in manufacturing.
  • One year of experience with printing or converting.
  • Knowledge of basic quality principles.

Work Environment

  • Less than 60% of time spent in a production environment: indoors in a manufacturing setting with regular exposure to cold, heat, noise, and moving machines/equipment.
  • Less than 40% of time spent in an office environment: primarily in a standard office setting but may involve exposure to moderate noise levels from high-speed computer printers and other peripherals. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for four to eight hours daily. Occasional travel to the manufacturing floor may be required.
  • Occasional work at customer sites: environments can range from production to office areas depending on the customer’s industry.
