About the role

The Quality Technician position is an interim backfill role intended to maintain quality standards and meet customer expectations until the end of 2026. Potential for movement to other roles within the facility is possible.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily quality control tests as per Georgia-Pacific standards and APA specifications, including surface inspections, thickness tolerance checks, flake geometry and moisture content verification, cross-panel density, internal bonding, parallel and perpendicular checks.
  • Work with the Team Leader to resolve quality and/or production issues.
  • Operate lab testing equipment, heavy equipment (forklift, manlift), and mobile equipment.
  • Become proficient with all aspects of the production process.
  • Load and unload various raw materials.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with team members in a collaborative environment.
  • Compose technical documents such as letters, reports, and proposals.
  • Perform tasks such as pulling, pushing, and lifting up to 50 lbs., as well as working in heights up to 80 ft and confined spaces for up to 12 hours.
  • Adhere to all safety and environmental regulations, including wearing necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Complete training for CPR and First Aid certification.

Requirements

  • Experience using basic computer software.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Solid working knowledge of APA performance standards and policies for structural-use panels, production methods, tests, and reporting procedures.
  • Experience leading a manufacturing team to achieve desired goals and outputs.
  • Experience with Statistical Process Control.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Wood Science, Sustainable Biomaterials, Engineering, Technical, or related Science field.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong understanding of APA performance standards and policies for structural-use panels, production methods, tests, and reporting procedures.
  • Experience with Statistical Process Control.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Wood Science, Sustainable Biomaterials, Engineering, Technical, or related Science field.
