About the Role
A Quality Technician I is an entry-level technician who performs complex manual inspection tasks and operates sophisticated equipment such as manual CMMs, CNC CMMs, and optical comparators.
Responsibilities
- Operate manual and CNC CMMs
- Set up and operate Optical Comparators
- Use inspection tools, including height gauges, calipers, pin gauges, thread gauges, and countersink gauges
- Complete inspection reports and other required paperwork
- Act as an example to the rest of the plant on use of procedures, following rules and policies, and cleanliness
Requirements
- High school diploma (minimum education level)
- College degree in a technical field is helpful but not required
- Experience in inspection or calibration is helpful
- Attention to detail, organization, and a high degree of work ethics
Skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical and legal documents, including contracts, design drawings, and specifications
- Proficiency with MS Excel
- Ability to learn and operate proficiently in less common software packages (e.g., MCOSMOS)
- Ability to make decisions based upon incomplete data
Physical Demands
- Ability to move items up to 50 lbs
- Required to pass an annual eye examination
- Extended periods of sitting, standing, or walking
Work Environment
The work environment is on the production floor, which includes both climate-controlled and less controlled areas.
