Quality Technician

About the Role

This position requires a strong understanding of quality assurance methods, tools, and manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have experience working with various materials and a keen foresight into how different materials react to machining, impacting the final part outcome.

Responsibilities

• Provide input for new gage/fixture designs relative to GD&T and CMM measurement accessibility.
• Work in a team atmosphere to ensure smooth operations across all processes.
• Operate CMM machines (Manual and DCC) using CMM Manager software.
• Perform quality inspection checks including first piece, hourly, final, last piece, and backward recall on non-conforming product; implement non-conforming product hold tags.
• Conduct gauge calibration and Gage R&R studies.
• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
• Maintain equipment through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, and coordinating repairs.
• Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and continuing needs to ensure continuity among work shifts.
• Support day-to-day quality and production deliverables and initiatives.
• Lead teams to support continuous improvement efforts (5S, internal audits, organizational knowledge).
• Document testing and root cause analysis for internal or external problems.
• Create work instructions, provide feedback, and review manufacturing issues with Quality Management/Manufacturing Engineering to address solutions.
• Accomplish organizational goals by accepting ownership for new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value.
• Ensure parts meet customer and company quality standards.
• Operate CMM machines using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Perform additional responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of relevant software, quality assurance methods/tools, and manufacturing processes.
• Strong math skills and excellent written and oral communication abilities.
• Knowledge of XL products and strong prioritization and organizational skills.
• Attention to detail, risk analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to handle stress and work under pressure.
• Experience with CNC programming, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and quality inspection processes.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience.
• Knowledge of CMM software and ability to mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, and fixtures.
• Participate in continued education courses as required for new projects and career growth (e.g., TQM/CQT/CQE).
