About the role

The Quality Technician will play an integral role in the Quality Assurance department by maintaining quality standards through inspection of incoming product, in-process production, and finished product. The candidate must accurately follow written procedures and use inspection equipment in compliance with the APT Quality Management System.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming, in-process production, and finished goods by confirming specifications through visual and dimensional tests per part inspection plans.
  • Document inspection results by completing reports and logs.
  • Document and communicate quality inspection failures (out-of-tolerance or out-of-control conditions) to supervisors.
  • Use and read common measuring devices (tapes, calipers, etc.) to complete product inspections.
  • Read and follow detailed blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and other applicable documents to determine inspection standards.
  • Audit and assess quality documentation for accuracy and recommend improvements.
  • Assist with training new inspectors as necessary.
  • Work to ensure ongoing success of company housekeeping and organization objectives.
  • Understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of APT.
  • Perform other assigned duties to achieve the goals of the department and company.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Quality Assurance related field or equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Basic mathematic skills.
  • Ability to read and understand production documents, blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to make sound technical decisions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal communication, writing, and listening skills.
  • Comfortable working with computer-based inspection programs and logs.

Preferred Skills

  • 2-3 years minimum experience in Quality Assurance/Control.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with ISO quality management systems or other similar quality management systems.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Excellent vision.
  • Stand for extended periods of time.

Work Environment

The work environment is a fast-paced, manufacturing job-shop.
