Responsibilities
- Adhere to all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in warehouse or production areas (e.g., hairnets, beard nets, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard-toe shoes, gloves, seatbelts while operating forklifts).
- Follow food quality and safety standards as per corporate, customer, and governing bodies (e.g., SQF).
- Ensure all products conform to customer specifications outlined in the SAP system.
- Perform analysis on raw materials, finished batches, treated water, and other programmed outlines by the department.
- Conduct chemical and physical analysis on raw, intermediate, and packaging materials to determine acceptability.
- Evaluate finished products through audits to monitor product and packaging integrity.
- Check process control parameters (e.g., secure seal, closure torque, can seam checks) to ensure proper equipment operation.
- Stop production if food safety is questionable and immediately alert management.
- Maintain accurate, legible records of all tests and retests performed.
- Complete required reports (work orders, action reports) in a timely manner.
- Perform analytical tests to qualify ingredient batches for production.
- Conduct production line checks at specified intervals.
- Ensure proper operation and calibration of laboratory equipment for accurate test results.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness at all times.
- Report all out-of-specification results to designated leadership.
- Complete special projects and other reasonable duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–3 years of experience in Quality within a manufacturing environment preferred.
- In plants co-packaging alcoholic beverages, must be at least 21 years old.
Skills
- Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and SAP preferred.
- Exposure to measurement tools and equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMM machines) preferred.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable to change.
- High level of precision and accuracy in inspection and testing.
- Familiarity with SQF, SAP, Six Sigma, GMP, and other relevant standards preferred.
- Understanding of food safety requirements.
- Able to read and understand the metric system.
- Food or beverage laboratory experience preferred.

Working Conditions
Operating in a fast-paced production plant with numerous moving parts. Noise levels require hearing protection, and temperatures can vary (laboratory is temperature-controlled). The environment is structured and supervised.
Schedule
Weekdays, weekends, afternoons, evenings, and overnights may be required. Overtime scheduled as needed.
