About the role
Collects samples and performs physical analytical sampling and testing of raw ingredients, packaging materials, and finished goods dairy food products in accordance with established guidelines. Identifies and communicates any out-of-specification analytical test results. Supports internal and external audits, consumer complaint investigations, and mock and product recall programs. Prepares and processes production records to isolate out-of-specification products and distributes customer certificates of analysis.
Responsibilities
- Collects product samples from production lines as per testing requirements.
- Maintains all Quality Control (QC) records and files accurately and neatly.
- Completes and enters data into the system accurately.
- Prepares various stock solutions used in the laboratory.
- Calibrates and maintains all laboratory testing equipment.
- Performs environmental control swabbing after cleaning and sanitizing procedures (CIP/SIP).
- Reports any deviations from established protocols.
- Supports the consumer complaint investigation process.
- Supports mock and product recall programs according to guidelines.
- Prepares and distributes customer certificates of analysis.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent, preferably an Associate’s Degree in Food or Dairy Science.
- Previous experience with food quality specifications, process control monitoring, and positive release documentation or similar experience with strict adherence to protocol.
- Advanced quality/food safety training and/or certifications are preferred but not required.
- A working understanding of food manufacturing acronyms (SQF, QA/QC, CQP, QAP, HACCP, SOP, 5S, GMP, etc.).
- Ability to pass and maintain regulatory certification as required.
- Strong math skills.
- Strong computer and business skills (SAP, Microsoft Office products, email, copy, scanning).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Qualifications
- Ability to pass and maintain specific State regulatory licensing/certificates (CDFA, DFA Appendix N, Good Laboratory Practices).
- Proficient with all quality control functions throughout the facility.
- Complies with federal, state, and local dairy food regulations.
- Adheres to the Saputo Code of Ethics and actively applies the Saputo Company Values.
- Works collaboratively with co-workers and other department personnel.
Skills
- Good laboratory housekeeping within established guidelines.
- Compliance with Quality Assurance Procedures (QAP’s).
- Knowledge of consumer complaint investigation process.
- Supports internal and external audits.
- Supports mock and product recall programs.
- Ability to complete and maintain specific State regulatory licensing/certificates.
