About the role

Aypa Power, a Blackstone portfolio company, is a leading developer, owner, and operator of utility-scale energy storage and hybrid renewable projects that power our communities and cities. Our mission is to responsibly decarbonize the grid and make North American energy markets more affordable, sustainable, and efficient. The Quality Specialist (Renewables) supports and executes Aypa's Quality program, providing quality support across multiple projects and assisting the HESQ Manager in reviewing, preparing, and executing the Quality program and its requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Contractor for review and comments on site-specific Quality Manuals, ITP's, Inspection Checklists, and Turnover packages.
  • Review Contractor Site Specific Quality Plan, ITPs, checklists, and turnover documentation against contract and design requirements.
  • Review and manage all quality documentation for the life of the project, including turnover tracking and organization.
  • Observe and verify construction work against drawings and standards for conformance (Material Receiving & Handling, Civil, Mechanical, Structural, Electrical, and Substation).
  • Attend all project-related meetings and manage and lead project quality meetings.
  • Provide detailed inspection reports noting any deficiencies in the installation and complete follow-up inspections to ensure corrective work is done.
  • Communicate quality-related information to the Project team.
  • Manage KPIs for quality performance of assigned projects and corrective actions.
  • Assist in the development of work instructions and other processes for construction inspection requirements across BESS and Solar utility projects.
  • Assist with the development of a comprehensive quality manual and work procedures across BESS+Solar components and assemblies.
  • Assist as directed with O&M warranty work.
  • Analyze new products for incorporation into future projects.
  • Assist in the development of a training curriculum to train field personnel.
  • Ensure Code compliance with the projects.
  • Support HSES initiatives as requested, including audits, observations, safety walks, and JHAs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, construction management, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • In lieu of degree, 5+ years of BESS and/or solar construction experience preferred with ASQ CQI, CQE, or CCQM Certification.
  • Highly proficient in technical aspects of BESS and Solar utility construction.
  • ISO-9001-2015 Auditor certification is preferred or obtainable within 1 year.
  • OSHA 30 & NFPA70E training preferred or obtainable within 1 year.
  • Strong working knowledge of complex electrical systems and components.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to be self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, management, vendors, clients, and others.

Pay

Base salary commensurate with experience. An annual bonus will be awarded based on both individual performance and the overall success of the business.

Schedule

  • Location: Ability to work in the United States is required. Preference for California, Idaho, and Austin, TX, but workplace location is flexible with required travel.
  • Travel: 50% or more depending on project needs.
