Quality Senior Manager
About the role
Copeland's approach to quality is established within a structured methodology that provides a consistent, documented, and auditable platform for operations with the capability to manage risk and change. This framework is supported by a range of project delivery and management systems. The Quality Senior Manager will spearhead a team that will advance quality systems and partner across all functions.
Responsibilities
- Direct a cross-functional team and 3rd party consultant through preparation and official certification of ISO 9001.
- Develop and maintain documented information that will be reflected in the Quality Management System to meet the requirements of ISO 9001, coordinating internal technical audit teams and quality certification processes as well as additional agency requirements such as: CSA, ASME and PED as examples.
- Streamlining and continually improving existing quality policies, procedures, and instructions.
- Controlling key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics, balancing external customer satisfaction against internal process efficiency to safeguard profitability.
- Owns the data and strategy for continual improvement of warranty rates, customer issues, first pass yield and cost of poor quality.
- Integrating technical excellence into every aspect of the project lifecycle.
- Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Product Safety, and Procurement throughout the product lifecycle.
- Coaching and developing direct reports as well as setting expectations on the development of quality professionals.
- Providing direction on the development of solutions to problems which have been defined, but where investigation is often required to clarify possible complex interfaces and solutions desired.
- Through contacts with educational institutions, societies, equipment manufacturers, agencies, etc., keeping abreast of new development germane to quality, reliability, and agency activities.
- Applying continual improvement conventions and techniques, using data analysis, understanding, and applying statistical methods, coordinating the use of Lean / Six Sigma tools (DMAIC, 5S+1, Process Capability Analysis, SPC, MSA, FMEA, Lean techniques, etc.).
- Providing the quality and reliability related requirements/metrics as part of the New Product Development process and the related phase/gate reviews.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or related field.
- At least 3 years' experience as a plant quality manager and demonstrated experience spearheading, implementing and/or managing Quality Management Systems for global, matrixed organizations.
- Extensive experience in and knowledge of quality management conventions and methodologies including ISO 9001.
- Six Sigma and Lean.
- Strong proficiency in project management approaches and tools.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Experience partnering closely with and advising senior management and executives.
- Proven problem solving and root cause identification skills.
- Strong analytic and decision-making abilities.
- Proven ability to influence others, work effectively with all levels in an organization, and move teams toward a common vision or goal.
- Ability to travel and work together with the plant locations, customers and suppliers to resolve difficult quality or reliability problems with complex product components, processes, or materials.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- MBA or related advanced degree.
- Engineering to Order experience.
- HVACR Industry Experience.
- Member of American Society for Quality (ASQ), Certified Quality Engineer, Quality Manager, or Reliability Engineer.
Work arrangement
This role is based fully onsite, and not eligible for hybrid or remote work opportunities.
