What You'll Help With
The Quality Nurse Specialist transforms healthcare by advancing service excellence and quality through clinical, quality, educational, leadership, consultation, and research responsibilities. Key duties include:
- Leading the application of the nursing process using evidence-based practices, current research, and national standards.
- Mentoring nursing teams in conducting complex patient assessments, care planning, treatment, and discharge/transition coordination.
- Promoting interdisciplinary collaboration to address outcome-focused patient care needs.
- Developing evidence-based clinical interventions and processes to achieve targeted patient and system outcomes.
- Guiding nursing teams in leveraging system and community resources to enhance care delivery, ensure successful care transitions, and achieve optimal outcomes.
- Establishing and implementing nursing practice goals in collaboration with nursing leadership.
- Identifying opportunities for improving clinical practices and developing strategies for enhancement.
- Analyzing quality improvement data to recommend evidence-based changes impacting care delivery.
- Evaluating research findings to propose and mentor evidence-based practice changes that improve patient outcomes.
- Leading or collaborating on research and quality management initiatives to foster best practices at organizational and system levels.
- Developing and delivering educational materials tailored to the needs of patients, families, and caregivers.
- Serving as a subject matter expert for one or more quality outcome metrics.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree required. Master’s degree in a healthcare-related field required (or achievable within two years).
- Experience: At least five years of nursing experience, including direct patient care, teaching, and research. Experience leading healthcare performance improvement and research projects required.
- Licensure/Certification: Registered Nurse license required. Clinical Nurse Specialist licensure required (or achievable within two years). Professional certification required (or achievable within two years).
- AHA-BLS.
Other Minimum Qualifications
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated team player with a global perspective.
- Prehospital experience is beneficial.
