Quality Nurse Coordinator - Regulatory
About the Role
The Quality Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, implementation, improvement, and successful achievement/compliance of core measure indicators in accordance with CMS guidelines. The coordinator maintains and coordinates timely policies and procedures maintenance, review/revision, posting, and distribution. The Coordinator organizes and maintains systematic data collection and flow of information between departments and into applicable committees.
Responsibilities
- Assure continual state of survey readiness.
- Review and communicate rules/regulations/standards changes.
- Develop and implement monitoring processes to track opportunities for improvement.
- Design and implement compliance strategies.
- Responsible for regulatory preparation (applications, unit prep and follow-up) for QRS and Joint Commission.
- Participate in the organization’s patient safety program.
- Attend required training that supports job responsibilities.
- Report unannounced survey activity at the facility to the CQPSO for reporting up to appropriate HCA Division and corporate entities.
- Assist with State, CM, and other surveys.
- Communicate opportunities for improvement at Nursing Leadership Council.
- Provide policy/procedure drafts to assure regulatory compliance with standards/goals.
- Provide reports of compliance quarterly to the Performance Improvement/Patient Safety Council.
- Assist with other regulatory requirements (Leapfrog, FMEA, RCA’s) as required.
- Schedule meetings with managers and directors to review data relating to identification and evaluation of regulatory activities including unresolved or problematic issues.
- Organize and implement tracer methodology for evaluation of standards compliance at Main and Madison Campuses.
- Communicate with the Chief Quality & Patient Safety Officer, COO and CNO identified deviations from Standards noted during “mock” surveys or tracer activities and trending of area or standard specific deviations.
- Evaluate existing processes and systems for compliance with Joint Commission Standards, making recommendations for improvement.
- Communicate with workgroups, directors and managers in development of policies to meet Standards.
- Identify resources and support systems to correct deviations from identified Standards.
- Disseminate new guidelines/regulations to appropriate departments.
- Educate staff to ensure that goals are set, measured and met.
Qualifications
- RN Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing required.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Tennessee or compact state required.
- 5 years of clinical RN experience required; regulatory background preferred.
