Job Summary
The Quality Coordinator ensures all aspects of the quality and performance improvement programs are in place to improve clinical excellence.
Responsibilities
- Perform timely and accurate data collection via concurrent and retrospective clinical medical record reviews.
- Responsible for case review based on high volume/high risk and low volume problem prone procedures.
- Report summaries of review results, feedback on potential quality issues and trends to Market VPQ / CMO.
- Cook up data abstraction, data analysis, and trending for specific reviews and as requested including Professional Practice Evaluation activities.
- Identify needs and opportunities for improvement based on data analysis and outcomes and communicate findings in a timely manner to Market VPQ / CMO.
- Aid in coordinating the quality programs/initiatives throughout the hospital through measurement, analysis, and actions to improve services and patient outcomes.
- Maintain systematic data collection and flow of information for improvement workgroups and committees.
- Participate in performance improvement activities to assure continuous quality improvement.
- Update and maintain quality profiles and work with division Ongoing Provider Practice Evaluation (OPPE) and Focused Provider Practice Evaluation (FPPE) and for cause FPPE.
- Participate in committees/workgroups as assigned and completion of follow-up for meetings as needed.
- Coordinate the system wide Professional Practice Evaluation Committee in conjunction with the Chair, Market VPQ and CMO; including completion of all follow up.
- Establish good working relationships with hospital staff and medical staff.
- Retrieve, communicate, and present information in written and/or visual fashion in a manner appropriate to intended audience.
- Work collaboratively with all stakeholders to collect, aggregate, and analyze data for the improvement of patient outcomes.
- Communicate and provide updates to Division and Corporate level leadership as requested, in conjunction with Market VPQ and CMO.
- Utilize appropriate skills in telephone etiquette when answering the telephone.
- Ensure the privacy of our patients and confidentiality of their Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Promote customer service initiatives.
- Promote and exhibit teamwork including the ability to assist other departments within the hospital as needed.
- Maintain positive relationships, both formal and informal.
- Complete mandatory education.
- Comply with hospital policies/procedures and patient safety initiatives.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Tennessee or compact licensure in state of residence required.
- 5 years of clinical experience required.
- Emergency department or critical care experience preferred.
