About the Role
The Quality Manager directs quality assurance activities and staff, ensuring product compliance with customer and regulatory specifications. This role coordinates quality systems across functions and locations, interfaces with customers and regulatory agencies, and leads initiatives to improve customer satisfaction and process quality.
Responsibilities
- Directly responsible for quality activities and certifications for the facility
- Maintains internal audit functions to meet industry standards and customer-specific requirements
- Coordinates quality system activities with manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, sales, marketing, technical services, and suppliers
- Facilitates supplier development to ensure compliance with industry standards
- Promotes and coordinates actions to improve customer satisfaction
- Acts as a liaison between the facility and customers on quality-related issues
- Analyzes defect data, facilitates root cause identification, and leads corrective action programs to drive process improvement
- Supports staff in Pre-Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and submissions
- Provides guidance on Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and manufacturing feasibility evaluation
- Reviews customer ratings monthly to correct errors and improve performance (e.g., achieving preferred/green supplier status)
- Ensures compliance with all customer-specific and regulatory requirements
- Leads, directs, monitors, and coaches quality assurance department employees
- Works as a member of the facility management team to accomplish collective objectives
- Handles other projects as assigned by supervisor
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience with at least a high school diploma/GED)
- At least 5 years of progressive quality experience in the automotive industry, including experience with regulatory agencies
- At least 5 years of supervisory experience
- Hands-on experience with structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., APQP, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, MSA, Control Plans, ISO 17025, TS 16949)
- Strong communication and leadership skills to support internal and external customers
- Ability to provide overall direction for the quality assurance process
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
