Quality Manager - Laboratory Services

About the role

Neogen is seeking a Quality Manager - Laboratory Services to lead and manage the Quality and Performance Officers in the Laboratory Services department. This position ensures high-quality services and adheres to ISO/IEC17025 and similar quality standards. The role involves providing specialist advice, engaging with accreditation body audits, and managing internal audits.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective direct line management including appraisal, development, performance monitoring, and competency assessments.
• Engage with Accreditation Body assessment audits, delivering evidence of compliance, recognizing valid improvement actions, and managing their resolution.
• Be responsible for proactively seeking improvement to service delivery, responding to complaints or dissatisfaction, and implementing effective corrective actions.
• Work with Managers to identify opportunities to develop capabilities, innovate, improve efficiencies, and reduce costs where applicable.
• Manage the QMS to ensure 'audit readiness' and provide leadership and assistance in the laboratory's day-to-day functions.
• Ensure the laboratory is 'audit ready' and participate in the development of business cases to support change and effective implementation of quality management systems.
• Supervise and assist in the day-to-day activities in the laboratory with frequent updates provided to the Laboratory Manager.
• Tabulate and graph data and prepare technical reports for senior personnel.
• Work with R&D and technical services on necessary product validations.
• Potential international and domestic customer visits, tradeshows, and Neogen global locations (5% travel).
• Participate in External Proficiency programs as appropriate.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in physical science, chemistry, or related fields.
• Minimum 2 years work experience with laboratory settings.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a technical management role is preferred.
• Prior experience of successfully implementing and managing a quality management system accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 or a similarly robust conformity assessment standard is desirable.
• Experience in presenting scientific results to diverse audiences is preferred.
• Experience in diagnostic kit validation is preferred.
