About the role
You will play a critical leadership role in delivering the next generation of nuclear energy through AP1000® projects. In this high-impact position, you will guide quality assurance strategy across large-scale projects -ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with project teams within the APX Delivery organization to embed quality throughout the full project lifecycle from bid and proposal development through execution and delivery.
- Design and implement project-specific quality staffing strategies, oversee the delivery of critical products and services, and help build a culture of continuous improvement and nuclear safety.
- Lead the quality assurance scope for assigned projects, including developing quality and EHS cost estimates for bids and proposals, and managing project risks.
- Develop a team of QA engineers responsible for a broad range of quality assurance and oversight activities, including implementation and continuous improvement of the Westinghouse Quality Management System, project quality plans, and procedures.
- Be the Project Quality Lead for early phases of AP1000® projects, participating in design reviews and leading internal audits, surveillances, and self-assessments.
- Ensure QA personnel are trained with project and organizational performance goals.
- Develop and manage the annual department budget, ensuring alignment with financial targets and responsible cost control.
- Ensure compliance with the Westinghouse Quality Management System during project development and execution for AP1000 and other new plant opportunities.
- Lead and organizational improvement programs, including the Corrective Action Program, Human Performance Program, and training and qualification programs.
- Champion a nuclear safety culture (NSC) and foster a Safety-Conscious Work Environment (SCWE) across all activities.
- Promote safe, error-free performance through active application and promotion of Human Performance tools and organizational learning.
- Promote continuous improvement by communicating and implementing quality assurance best practices.
- Provide rigorous programmatic oversight of project activities to ensure quality and compliance standards are met.
- Identify, recommend, and implement solutions to quality issues, ensuring corrective and preventive actions, with partners.
Qualifications
- BS Degree or equivalent engineering or technical
- 8 plus years of quality assurance experience in positions of increasing responsibility
- Broad knowledge of quality assurance regulations, codes and standards
- Knowledge of engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, and testing
- Ability to travel internationally as projects require (up to +/- 25% for peak times)
Beneficial
- ASQ CMQ/OE certification, ISO/NQA-1 Certified Lead Auditor (optional)
- Working knowledge of U.S. commercial nuclear power regulations, e.g., 10CFR50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1, ASME B&PV Code, ANSI, 10CFR21, and comparable international regulations and standards (including ISO 9001 and ISO 19443) is preferred.
- Experience in the application of Nuclear Safety Culture and Human Performance principles.
Pay
The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $126,450 to $140,500 per year.
Schedule
The position is hybrid; you will be on site 2 days per week.
