Broad Function and Purpose of Position

The Quality Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and control of quality related initiatives including ISO9001 & IATF16949, as well as other Quality Management System (QMS) requirements. In cooperation with site management, responsible for the quality assurance and control functions throughout all Product divisions and the implementation of proactive quality management systems that will position the Sika Marion Operations as a leader in process and product quality. Work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Quality, support from operations, and may include other activities as assigned.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the plants Sika SAFE Program.
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment in accordance with the Sika Housekeeping policy.
  • Display active leadership in advancing the Sika SAFE culture in Marion pursuing the objectives of zero injuries and Employee engagement.
  • Achiet annual safety goals through a solid understanding of safety management as well as the ability to convey and coach safety rules and procedures.
  • Ensure implementation and evolution of safety guidelines and procedures. Participates in safety meetings, safety-related training, coaches safety guidelines, supports accident investigations, and teaches compliance with safety regulations and programs.
  • Coverall responsibilities to design, implement, and maintain Quality Policy program to establish quality goals and objectives.
  • Establish all certification schedules and activities including internal and external audits, as well as documentation review.
  • Actively promote, through own action and attitude, a positive a continuous improvement culture.
  • Direct responsibility to manage the Marion Quality Department.
  • Create a challenging and motivating culture in the plant.
  • Provide local site management with technical assistance required to formulate new or revised quality control procedures and systems.
  • Provide executive management with regular reports regarding compliance status, specific action items, problems and opportunities. Monitor and report quality performance KPIs with other members of the Marion Leadership Team.
  • Establish and meet local budgets and operational goals and objectives through balanced scorecards. Help to implement strategy, processes and activities related to capital budgeting and plan implementation for the Quality department.
  • Assure the FERT release and inspection plan setup in SAP, and assist the introduction of new materials, packaging, products and processes.
  • Support new product and raw-material launches, scale-up, and validation of products as well as optimization of products in compliance with the PCP process.
  • Provide corrective and preventive techniques to ensure continuous improvement of the manufacturing process regarding quality and economy (throughput, waste, energy efficiency; together with other members of the Marion Leadership Team).
  • Troubleshoot quality problems and establish root cause analysis to develop the implementation and check the sustainability of the appropriate corrective action.
  • Initiate state-of-the-art procedures and methods where appropriate.
  • Support the national customer complaint process which satisfies our customers’ needs. Determine and improve process capabilities by using statistical quality techniques to meet or exceed customer needs.
  • Must be familiar with product quality requirements for automotive manufacturer customers and must be able to facilitate and/or coordinate training in continuous improvement activities to improve manufacturing and distribution processes.
  • Development of processes that ensure the shipment of products that meet agreed upon customer specification.
  • To execute other projects or activities to be determined as directed by Director of Quality.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related majors as required, advanced degree is a plus.
  • Experience: 5+ years experience as a Quality Manager in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
