Quality Manager
Quality Improvement
Drives quality improvement efforts to establish and enforce an effective Quality Management System (QMS).
Uses Lean Six Sigma methodology to support Lean initiatives, improve processes, and reduce defects.
Manages supplier quality and ensures a process is in place to provide feedback to suppliers when defects are found and ensure corrective actions are taken.
Implements and maintains an internal surveillance audit process focused on ensuring adherence to the QMS, Control Plans, and QPOC process.
Establishes cross-functional training programs to ensure quality technicians are skilled in quality testing methods and internal auditing.
Coaches and develops plant Quality Technicians in the effective use of quality tools, including process audits, root cause countermeasure (RCCM), measurement systems analysis (MSA), and statistical process control (SPC), as well as quality management systems (QMS).
Quality Administration
Leads facility quality efforts, defining areas of responsibility, personnel requirements, and operational procedures.
Establishes an effective quality management system by updating the quality assurance manual and procedures.
Ensures that Change Management procedures are followed and communicated to all affected associates.
Reviews and standardizes control plans, closed-loop corrective action systems, and quality management systems in all plants.
Assures adherence to the internal audit plan to verify plant adherence to the MCC quality management system.
Manages second and third-party audits and works with management to ensure any audit findings are promptly addressed.
Assures supplier quality by enforcing quality assurance standards, policies, and industry/government requirements.
Collaborates with other members of the quality organization to share best practices and ensure standardization across business units.
Maintains data analysis to monitor the performance of the Quality Management System and adherence to standards.
Works with the facility management team to achieve overall financial objectives, reduce customer credits by making fiscally responsible business decisions, and initiate corrective actions to prevent systemic issues from occurring.
Talent Management
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, achieving certifications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Customer Relationships
Supports a customer-centric culture within the facility.
Strives to establish strong relationships at customer manufacturing sites and at container and contract manufacturing shipping locations.
Makes customer visits as needed to address quality issues or support our customer's needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering, manufacturing technology, or Business Administration (related technical discipline may be considered).
- 10 years of direct experience with requisites in lieu of a degree.
- Quality experience preferably in the printing industry with proven ability to run a plant quality department.
- Minimum of 10 years in a leadership role in one or more of the areas of quality, engineering, manufacturing, and/or lean deployment.
- Demonstrated problem solver with direct experience coaching, teaching, and applying lean sigma, six sigma, and/or lean manufacturing techniques.
- Articulate and clear in written and verbal communication.
- Persuasive and passionate in the spoken and written word.
- Positive attitude and a team player.
- Knowledge of BRC standards and ASQ certifications is desired but not required.
- Must be able to move about in offices and plants in a safe manner; travel to customer sites required.
- Able to lead, oversee, and develop others.
- Skilled in statistical process control, change management, and legacy quality tools such as PDCA, FMEA, control plans, etc required.
- Six Sigma or CQE required (ASQ or equivalent).
- The physical demands require standing, using hands to finger, feel and touch; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear.
- This position requires frequent walking. Occasionally employee is required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Must be able to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision requirements are close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Travel up to 10%.
